Chickasaw Plum

Sale Price: $0.00 Original Price: $0.00
68 available

(Prunus angustifolia)

Chickasaw Plum (Prunus angustifolia) is a fast-growing, multi-stemmed native shrub or small tree prized for its fragrant early-spring blooms and edible fruit. Reaching 15 to 25 feet tall and wide with a dense, thicket-forming habit, it thrives best in full sun to partial shade and excels in sandy, dry, or well-drained soils (USDA Zones 5–9). In early spring, clusters of delicate white blossoms blanket the branches before the leaves emerge, attracting native pollinators, followed by small, sweet-tart red to yellow plums in summer that are perfect for wildlife, fresh eating, or jams. Highly heat and drought-tolerant once established, it is an excellent choice for windbreaks, naturalized hedgerows, wildlife thickets, and soil stabilization.

  • Reserved trees can be picked up at the Sand Hill Nursery on Tuesday between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. or Wednesday between 4 - 7 p.m. More details will be provided in the order confirmation email.

  • The actual height of trees varies from 1' to 6'.

  • Link to more information about tree species.

  • Click here for how to plant your tree once you have it.

  • Click here for the tree wizard to help select a tree for your space.
