(Aronia melanocarpa)
Black Chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa) is a highly adaptable, multi-stemmed native shrub celebrated for its intense seasonal beauty and nutrient-dense fruit. Growing 3 to 6 feet tall and wide with an upright, spreading habit, it thrives best in full sun to partial shade and adapts effortlessly to a vast array of conditions, including moist-to-wet soils, heavy clay, sandy loams, and dry sites (USDA Zones 3–8). Spring brings profuse clusters of fragrant white flowers that support pollinators, followed by glossy dark green foliage that turns brilliant red and purple in autumn alongside clusters of antioxidant-rich, dark violet berries that persist into winter to feed birds. Extremely hardy and pest-resistant, it is an excellent choice for rain gardens, native borders, naturalized thickets, and mass plantings.
Reserved trees can be picked up at the Sand Hill Nursery on Tuesday between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. or Wednesday between 4 - 7 p.m. More details will be provided in the order confirmation email.
The actual height of trees varies from 1' to 6'.
