Hard 2 Recycle
These free public collections divert items that would normally end up in the landfill, such as Styrofoam, electronics, books, batteries, and much more. Five collections are held annually throughout the County and one central event in Downtown Asheville. In 2018, more than 80 tons of materials were collected at H2R events. The events are made possible through the generous support of partners including BIMCO, Curbside Recycling, Habitat for Humanity ReStore, One Click Fix, Mountain Ink, The City of Asheville, and the Asheville Humane Society.
Project Cost: $20,000 ($5,000 per event, four times a year)
Tire Amnesty Days
Due to lack of funding from the State of NC, Tire Amnesty Days have been postponed indefinitely. We will announce when and if this important event is reinstated. Twice a year, this free-to-the- public tire collection event promoted alternative modes of recycling for Buncombe County. In 2017, more than 6,297 tires were collected and recycled.
Project Cost: $7,000 ($3,500 x 2)
