And we're celebrating with a series of urban agriculture events. Organizations and community groups that are part of the Urban Agriculture Alliance, including FEAST, UNCA, Burton Street Peace Garden, the Asheville Buncombe Community Garden Network and GreenWorks are hosting events from September 9th through September 23rd. Check out the event descriptions below and come get a "taste" for what's happening with urban agriculture in Asheville and Buncombe County.

Description: The Harvest Conference is a fall event featuring all the popularity of the Spring Conference with a focus on fall & winter growing, food preservation & storage, fermentation, homesteading & self reliance, cooking from scratch, and more…all organically of course. Backyard and urban growers, homesteaders, and gardeners of all stripes choose from more than 20 classes and pre-conference workshops on Friday, September 8, 2017. We pride ourselves on bringing you down-to-earth advice on growing and sustainable living, while remaining affordable and accessible. Same great education—Another great time of year!

Feasting for FEAST: Join us for the 2017 Feasting for FEAST Fundraiser! Purchasing a ticket to this event provides you a night of incredible food and drink, as well as live music, raffles and auctions! Not only do you get to enjoy a night of fun, your purchase of a ticket goes to supporting FEAST programming in Asheville area schools and after school programs to ensure students are learning to grow, prepare, enjoy and CHOOSE fruits and veggies. We envision a community where kids of all income levels eat fruits and vegetables every day.

UNCA Farm to Table Dinner: The Farm-to-Table Dinner on the Quad at UNC Asheville is a harvest feast not to be missed! Gathered around the table in the heart of our beautiful campus, we will honor and celebrate the land that sustains us, the gardens and businesses that feed us, and our collective efforts to insure that our wider community is engaged and nourished. This year, the dinner's theme will focus on celebrating the migration of food and people into and around Western North Carolina. Tickets will be going on sale during the second week of August, and more details will be posted on the facebook page as soon as soon as we solidify them!

Asheville Community Garden Tour and Celebration: The Asheville Buncombe Community Garden Network will be hosting a fundraiser garden tour and dinner to support the network and celebrate the important work of the participating gardens. We will be visiting four unique gardens in the afternoon, participating in fun and informative activities at each one. The tour will be followed by a dinner at the Southside Community Garden's new pavilion, with veggies sourced from the gardens. There will be children's activities and music to accompany the dinner.

Backyard Composting Workshop

GreenWorks 5th Annual Root Ball: This annual fundraiser to benefit Asheville GreenWorks features live music, food, drinks and dancing at the City of Asheville's new Arts & Culture Center at 14 Riverside Drive. Proceeds will support GreenWorks programs, including the Food Tree Project -- bringing community orchards to a neighborhood near you.
