We'll see you in April 2020!
GreenWorks established the Environmental Excellence Awards to recognize the outstanding work of individuals, businesses and organizations in environmental stewardship and sustainability in our community. In 2018, we added an exciting new twist on the awards ceremony with a "Trashion Show" -- local designers presenting new fashions with repurposed materials.

Nearly 300 individuals joined Asheville GreenWorks on Saturday, April 27 @ 6-9PM at the Doubletree by Hilton Asheville-Biltmore for an evening of fashion, performing arts, and community celebration with a focus on environmental sustainability. Helen Chickering (BPR) and Blake Butler (adapt PR) MC'd this very special fundraising event.
Guests were treated to performances by Asheville Contemporary Dance Theatre, a special "Eco Readers" Kid's Runway Strut, and a recycled fashion show by local and regional designers set amidst a fantastical "Truffula Tree" forest inspired by Dr. Seuss' The Lorax.
Keynote speaker Crystal Dreisbach of Don't Waste Durham shared her experience implementing "Green To Go," an innovative reusable solution to styrofoam take-out containers in Durham, NC.
We also highlighted the inspiring & diverse stories of our 2019 Environmental Excellence Award winners including:
Proceeds benefit Asheville GreenWorks' critical work in the area of plastic reduction, including our citizen-led Plastics Reduction Task Force, a Go Easy Guide - an online resource to help business owners find affordable solutions to waste problems, a broad community awareness & education campaign, and furthering innovative partnerships with businesses and communities throughout the area.
