Tree Distribution FAQs

    • Tree distribution seasons are fall (October-December) and spring (March-May).

    • Typically at Sand Hill Nursery (24 Apac Circle, Candler, NC 28715, housed within the Buncombe County Sports Park).

    • Sometimes we host smaller tree distributions out in the community, keep an eye on our social media and email list for special events.

    • One tree per household to ensure everyone can get a tree.

    • If you are interested in multiple trees for municipalities/organizations - please see our sliding scale.

    • Some examples of species we have: black locust, sycamore, oaks, elderberry, redbuds, beautyberry, flowering dogwood, sweet shrub, all-spice, persimmon, maples, hickory.

    • A species preview list will be posted on social media/email list approximately one week prior to the tree shop opening so you can do your research and select the best tree for your needs.

    • Visit NC Extension to learn more about specific tree species.

    • Sign up for our All Things Trees email list! That is where all the information for upcoming dates and details will be sent out.

    • Trees often sell out quickly. We will be hosting free tree distributions for years to come so don’t get discouraged, there will be plenty of trees to go around.
