Tree Shop is Open!

In order to get free trees they must be reserved online. Free trees must be picked up by the November 4th deadline before they are returned to inventory.

Pick up location is at our Sandhill Nursery location at 24 Apac Circle, Asheville, NC.

Tree pick up for October is available every Tuesday 10 AM - 1 PM and every Wednesday 4 - 7 PM.

To make up for the canceled October pickups, we have added pickup dates during the first week of November:

  • Tuesday, November 3: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

  • Wednesday, November 4: 4:00 – 7:00 PM

Free tree orders are limited to 10 per household, orders over 10 free trees may be cancelled.

Tree Distribution FAQs

    • Tree distribution seasons are fall (October-December) and spring (March-May).

    • Typically at Sand Hill Nursery (24 Apac Circle, Candler, NC 28715, housed within the Buncombe County Sports Park).

    • Sometimes we host smaller tree distributions out in the community, keep an eye on our social media and email list for special events.

    • We ask that you reserve a limited number of trees, so that others can reserve some too. Some events will have defined limits.

    • If you are interested in multiple trees for municipalities/organizations - please see our sliding scale.

  • All orders should receive an order confirmation email. Please check your spam folder searching either “Squarespace“ or “Asheville GreenWorks“. If you cannot find an email in your spam or inbox, please reach out to Daphne at daphneh@ashevillegreenworks.org.

    • Either reserve here on our online tree shop, or on a first-come, first-served basis. Details will be provided for each distribution.

    • Trees are free! Donations are much appreciated to help keep our programs thriving - click the donate button in the tree shop!

    • Some examples of species we have: black locust, sycamore, oaks, elderberry, redbuds, beautyberry, flowering dogwood, sweet shrub, all-spice, persimmon, maples, hickory.

    • Sign up for our All Things Trees email list! That is where all the information for upcoming dates and details will be sent out.

    • Trees often sell out quickly. We will be hosting free tree distributions for years to come so don’t get discouraged, there will be plenty of trees to go around.
