![]() Please join us as we welcome Christine Brown to Asheville GreenWorks. A recent graduate from Auburn University with her degree in Environmental Science and only one month in Asheville. She's already making an impact. Christine's no stranger to Volunteering and Environmental causes. Spending the last year testing water through the Alabama Cooperative Extension System. Where will you be seeing Christine? She will be spending most of her time split between Volunteer Mgmt and Clean Communities (our environmental education program). Lessons for Life ![]() With the School year already in session, we're ramping up to take our Waste Reduction and Plastic Lifestyle lessons back into the schools. With all five of the City of Asheville's Elementary Schools participating in our zero food waste program, we're striving to broaden the program into the Middle and High Schools this year. With every meal the students are made responsible for all food and paper waste. "If it was every alive it can be composted" is the message we're teaching. What happens to all of that food waste? It's commercially composted by area waste reducer Danny's Dumpster. As part of the program, the Schools all receive (for free) clean, nutrient rich top soil for their community gardens. No more waste Asheville! If you would like to support this lifetime education program, please consider joining Asheville GreenWorks as a Member. Comments are closed.
