![]() Asheville - To further combat storm-water and roadside litter from entering the waterways, Asheville GreenWorks has begun installing our Trash BOOMs on major tributaries of the Swannanoa River. The first of these urban streams to receive some special attention is the Haw Creek. Installed in Feb 2016, the boom has already captured over 200 lbs of trash and prevented it from entering the Swannanoa River. Groups of volunteers spent most of February and the early part of March cleaning up years of trash upstream of the Haw Creek boom. Over 100 bags of trash has been cleaned up in just the first 200 yards of stream. Years of neglect and abuse can be reversed with your help. Sponsor a Stream![]() Sweeten Creek and Gashes Creek will be receiving booms Spring 2016. We're currently seeking funds to install booms on Reems Creek and Flat Creek.
