September 25th 2014 - By Eric Bradford
Asheville GreenWorks R2-C2 tumbling composter finds a new home at Hall Fletcher and Black Mountain Elementary. Our specially designed composter is the perfect addition to any backyard or community garden. R2's mission is to make composting faster and easier while providing an educational experience. Two more Elementary School gardens are now benefiting from our advanced composting lessons. The students will learn 3 different styles of backyard composting. (Static, Lasagna and Tumbling) Each form will convert plant matter and food waste into top soil for the garden

Hall Fletcher Elementary

In partnership with AmeriCorps Project Vista and Hall Fletcher Gardening Teacher  Rachel Lubitz, we rounded out their amazing garden with a new composting system.

Black Mtn Elementary

With help from Black Mtn Parks & Recreation Department's Jill Edwards we worked with the kids to create a new space for composting at Black Mtn Elementary. This beautiful garden will teach students where food comes from while demonstrating the value of waste reduction for many years to come.
