GreenWorks Seeking Marketing and Communications Associate

Asheville GreenWorks has an immediate, temporary, part time opening for a Marketing and Communications associate. Position is 10-15 hours a week. Internship for college credits possible. Pay is competitive.
Qualified candidates must have or be working towards a degree in marketing or communications or have significant marketing experience. This is an excellent opportunity to exercise your current skills and add to your skill set. If you are a student intern, this is an excellent opportunity to integrate theory and research with practice and explore a possible career.

Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Identify and produce press release for print and digital communications: e-newsletter, event websites, fundraising appeals, Internet marketing/fundraising activities.
  • Manage social media messaging and calendaring.
  • Promote awareness through signature fundraising events, e.g., posters, fliers, etc.
  • Website updates.
  • Support vendor relationships associated with communication projects, e.g. graphic designer, website, photographer, printer, etc.
  • Assist with the development and execution of marketing and communications strategies for annual awareness and fundraising events/campaigns, community-sponsored events and organizational programs.
  • Perform other related duties as requested by the Executive Director .
Student internship requirements include:
  • Completed 12 or more hours of mass communication courses, with a 2.8 grade point average in all MCOM courses undertaken
  • Received approval of the internship from the internship instructor
  • Submitted a completed Internship Agreement form (to be signed by intern and internship supervisor) prior to starting work
Student internship objectives include:
  • Intern will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the organization through communicating with internal and external customers through various forms of communication, phone calls, email correspondence, interoffice communication during team meetings and written reports
  • Intern will learn to work within a team  and to communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors
  • Intern will develop working knowledge of business operations
