Job Description: Engage communities, groups and individuals on issues surrounding water quality, erosion, pollution and waste. Manage and expand the French Broad River Pollution Prevention Program. Educate the public on water quality best practices and issues encompassing pollution. Spearhead restorative efforts on local waterways through live staking and remediation. Support Asheville GreenWorks Community Engagement Coordinator to create the next generation of environmentalists through the Youth Environmental Leadership Program. Relieve our local rivers and streams of thousands of pounds of trash and tires through river and stream cleanup efforts. Compensation: Members earn a living stipend of $12,530 over the 11-month term of service (Please be aware that the living stipend is taxed when you are budgeting living expenses). Upon successful completion of the program, each member will also receive an education award of $5,775. This award can be used to pay off existing school loans or apply for future education. Other benefits include health insurance and childcare assistance.
