Downtown residents led by Mary Ann West and Trina Mullen have transformed downtown Pritchard Park into a garden. Writing to the Citizen-Times this month, Asheville resident Kim MacQueen awards them an “A” grade for their efforts:
Thanks to the efforts of these two, Asheville’s “other downtown park” now boasts beautiful planters, flowering plants, a hosta garden, a welcoming feel — and a support organization, The Friends of Pritchard Park.
On any given afternoon, you’ll see downtown workers enjoying an outdoor lunch, young mothers watching their children enjoy the park and several readers — quite a cry from Pritchard Park a year ago… This is a true private-public partnership that we can all enjoy.
