Beautification and Planting

You can help us with our beautification and planting!
Call 828-254-1776 to volunteer, or email volunteer@ashevillegreenworks.org. You’ll receive an email each week detailing how you can volunteer. We appreciate the gift of your time. We always provide all supplies and make sure everyone has fun!
Here’s what we do:
- plant trees and flowers along streets and highways and especially near speed limit signs and entryway signs
- work with students to beautify school grounds
- plant trees and flowers and install planters in city and county parks
- provide funds to citizens who wish to plant or mulch a public area
Do you have a public planting project in mind? Do you see an area that would benefit from mulching? We have a seed money fund to help you. Call 828-254-1776 or email susan@ashevillegreenworks.org.
Thanks, Mast General Store!

The funds come from Chaco Shoes, which are sold at Mast General.
Yearly Events
Every year we celebrate Arbor Day at a different location. In 2011 we celebrated at Aston Park with a tree planting ceremony. We have celebrated at the Botanical Gardens, the N.C. Arboretum, City-County Plaza and many other locations over the past 37 years.
For the past 31 years Asheville has received the Tree City USA Award from the National Arbor Day Foundation through our work. Being designated as a Tree City means that our city maintains a Tree Commission, has a tree ordinance and has a community forestry program.
