What is Asheville GreenWorks?
Asheville GreenWorks, an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, is a volunteer-based, environmental organization working to achieve a clean and green Asheville and Buncombe County through community organizing, educating and stewardship.
We seek to enhance the environment and quality of life for citizens in Asheville and Buncombe County through community based projects. With more than 400 members and thousands of volunteers, we engage the community in grassroots projects like tree planting, environmental cleanups, anti-litter and waste reduction, creation and maintenance of green spaces, playground enhancement, neighborhood beautification and care and preservation of Asheville’s rivers and trees. Through our work, Asheville has been designated as a Tree City USA for the past 33 years. Asheville GreenWorks depends on Volunteers to keep Asheville and Buncombe clean & green. Be one of the tens of thousands of volunteers that have gotten "Dirty for a Great Cause!"
With the number of projects we have available, you can work when your schedule permits, create a custom outing or join in a group event. If you’re interested in getting involved in one of our projects, please e-mail: volunteer@ashevillegreenworks.org 828-254-1776. |
Downtown Cleanup - July 1st

Cleanliness has become a bigger and bigger issue in Downtown Asheville. We hear it from tourists, residents and business owners alike, but there’s no sustainable solution in place. So, we’re taking to the streets with our brooms, dustpans, lots of trash bags and even a few power washers to show what Downtown Asheville can be. When? Monday, July 1, 2013 Pick your Shift: 8-11am, 11am-2pm, 2-5pm Who? You, your colleagues, your friends, EVERYONE! Sign up as a group or as an individual (select the number of "tickets" for however many people are in your group). Downtown is one of Asheville’s greatest assets and we ALL need to chip in to make sure downtown remains an economic driver for all of Western North Carolina. How? Register here! Or, you may contact the Asheville Downtown Association at 828.251.9973 or info@ashevilledowntown.org. Where? After registering, meet at your shift time in Pritchard Park to pick up your supplies and get your assignment. There will also be supply and water stations throughout downtown.
